Sturbridge 250th Parade - 1988
35 years ago, on May 22, 1988, Sturbridge celebrated its 250th year with a huge parade featuring floats, bands, antique cars, the Budweiser Clydesdales, Mummers, the Shriners and fire apparatus from surounding towns and beyond. The parade stretched from Fiskdale to the Sturbridge Common and Bruce Schwoegler, the popular WBZ-TV meteorologist, was the parade marshall. Thousands of spectators lined the route and we were blessed with a mild, uneventful weather day.
This gallery is a sampling of the photos I took that day.
You may see yourself or some familiar faces and I hope everyone enjoys this short trip back to 1988!
